HILONG AWARDED FOR HSE PERFORMANCE BY SHELL AGAIN

The 2015 Shell Contractors CEO HSE conference was held on 17th, April in Lagos. 128 CEOs and senior executives representing 117 contractor companies working across Shell companies in Nigeria (SCiN), and 36 senior leaders from shell attended this meeting. The theme of this conference is re-energizing the Life Saving Rules.

The Meeting started with a welcome speech and safety briefing followed by an Opening remark by Marcus Droll, the VP SHELL Gabon and Nigeria. He highlighted the HSE FOCUS areas which include goal zero, process safety, contractor safety, Road Safety, contractors HSSE performance, emergency Response and oils spill response. He talked extensively on the too many high potential incidents within the shell group and why we will have to put more emphasis on it and work to reduce it.

The conference included sessions on Life Saving Rules; Learning from incidents; Contractor Site Safety standardization and Welfare. This event was an opportunity to come together to focus on safety, build and strengthen partnerships, examine factors that contribute to effective safety performance and to reward contractors that contribute greatly to the safety performance of Shell.

Meritorious Safety Performance & GOAL Zero Hero Award was given to some SPDC Contractors of which HILONG OIL SERVICES AND ENGINEERING NIG. Ltd was the First to be called upon and given this award for the outstanding safety performance in construction, management and delivery of two high pressure wells of 15,000psi in the HPHT Project and achieving 365 days without LTI.

The Meeting ended with a closing remark by Marcus Droll. He wished everyone a safe operation and encouraged everyone to work safe and improve on Leadership commitment towards safety. Another piece of good news is that HL-19 was awarded LTI Free for last three years (2012-2014). Each of the employees who once worked for HL-19 was awarded a refrigerator (and 250 employees in total were awarded).
